The Power of Words

What gives some words power and the same words used by another can seem powerless? This crosses my mind when I read the paper and see some extreme act taken for what may be taken as an insult or more so a blaspheme to what could be considered in the dictionary definition of what is considered extreme. In today's climate of emotions and attitudes thinking about how to express ourselves in a country that says we have rights under the constitution but is it alright to scream fire in a building full of people with a shoddy escape sign hanging on the wall? These are words that are swarming around my mind like busy bees. When we were young, "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words may never hurt me!" was repeated quite a bit on the play ground and whispered in the class room between students. Now we have bullies over the internet and some things written in jousting of merriment for fun of the words in poetry and in structure or embellishment of the art of words.

Then I took it to another thought the power of words the amount of power ascribed by the scholars of old ancient and some say forbidden knowledge. The knowledge the mystics know the numerological power given as to how they affect the rhythm of our universe. One that mankind forgot about in teaching in the classrooms of our schools in English or some of the Churches for these are two or our institutions we hold accountable for our knowledge. Whether we have paid for a public or private education. Or, whether we have made donations to the Church or given our time to make sure that our families are not left unknowing some of the systems and knowledge that remain the same but expressed in different language. Yes, when we read the daily paper and over and over we read simple thought of the power of words and the influence we have over other people cannot be held accountable we feel for their interpretation. Then on the other side of the coin do some intentionally antagonize certain individuals? And at one point are people held responsible for their actions? Should all look at both sides of this word usage as what is expression of thoughts and facts placed in writing or vocalized words in a climate riddled with confusion stress duress or some who move to a realm of thought processes different from our own.
